The first out of seven stadiums powered by solar energy through a 2,2 MW system power was recently put in the spotlight with an inauguration event.
The National Stadium in Brazil can accommodate an audience up to 71,000 people and costs over $ 700 million and could become the world’s first certified LEED Platinum.
With an one kilometer diameter, it is one of the biggest if not the biggest stadium in the country. The initiators, however, distract dithyrambic comments mainly because they are trying to design a stadium as possible environmental friendly, given its size.

Within the next months Brazil is expected to consecrate the remaining solar stadiums as they have promised to host the greenest World Cup ever.
